A Warning

We believe these offers to be very suspect the main reason being that they claim to be able, amongst other things, to get you into the Google search engine. Do yourself a favour and research this online for yourself.

In short Google says:

No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google.

Beware of SEOs that claim to guarantee rankings, allege a "special relationship" with Google, or advertise a "priority submit" to Google. There is no priority submit for Google.

So if Google itself says it can’t be done I think that is likely to be the case.

The other worrying trend seems to be with domain names. Many people seem to have been approached by a national directory sometime ago that offered to get their domain name for them, eg www.yourbusinessname.co.uk.

Now they seem to be reluctant to release it to the businesses in question so the business has to take a new domain name. You can check who owns your domain name online and if it is registered to your business then you own it and CAN get it back. If you have spent years building up your business why would you want to call it something else online?

People are given the example of B&Q and M&S that are known online as www.diy.com and www.marksandspencer.com. The real and only reason is that and ampersand (&) cannot be used in a domain name so they have HAD to change.

Please be very careful when dealing with these sales people as in our experience they might be able to talk the talk but they cannot walk the walk. Lets face it we are all worried about the next year and I think these people are taking advantage of that fact.
